Learn how to use expression to convey emotion in photographs

Hello everybody! Today I thought I would share a little info on expressions. Did you know there are only 3 things on your face you use to convey emotion? They are:

To convey an emotion effectively and honestly, all 3 are engaged even if slightly. We use our eyes, mouth and eyebrows to show what we are thinking or feeling, sometimes this is a subconscious thing, other times we really push it out-there .

However, when we talk about getting a headshot done, the most important tip to remember is that you need to bring all the parts of your face into a photo, so spend a little time learning how they work and what they say when you look at yourself in the mirror.

Practice making happy, sad, depressed, fierce, worried, excited, apprehensive, concerned faces and have a look how the emotion changes your face. It might be subtle or huge changes. The more aware of the expressions you are, the better you will be able to control them and use them to you advantage.

Here's an example:

Brad before he learnt how to control the features of his face for images

and. after he was coached to do it. The changes are subtle, but there.

Knowing how to work your face on demand is a very useful skill. This is only 1 part of what you'll learn in your session with me.

Please feel free to leave your thoughts and comments, i'd love to hear from you.
